Приборная панель BRP 650 (G1) 07 гв потухла

Featured Replies

Hello Igor-67,

Looking closely at the PCB footprint in your picture, it has 3 solder pads, not 2. This means the missing component is not a standard two-pin Quartz Crystal, but a 3-pin Ceramic Resonator.

For this BRP dashboard, it is highly likely a 4.00 MHz Ceramic Resonator.

You can easily replace it with a standard through-hole 3-pin 4.00 MHz resonator. To make it easy for you to buy, you can search for the generic part number ZTT 4.00MG or Murata CSTLS4M00.

Just solder the middle pin to the center pad (which is Ground/GND), and the two outer pins to the other two pads. The orientation of the outer pins does not matter. This is a very reliable fix for dashboards exposed to vibration.

I have attached a reference picture of the component for you. Good luck with the repair!

Спасибо.Но вроде под этот процессор(908AZ60A) ПОДХОДИТ ЕЩЕ И 8.00 МГц ?

что то я кварцев в таком корпусе не припоминаю....

вот такой разве не встричали?

Hello Igor-67,

Yes, mathematically you are correct. The Motorola MC68HC908AZ60A processor can easily support an 8.00 MHz oscillator based on its datasheet.

However, in automotive dashboards, you cannot simply choose a frequency. The frequency is strictly tied to the software firmware programmed inside the MCU. It calculates the Baud Rate for the CAN bus communication and the timing for the stepper motors (gauges).

If the original factory design for your specific BRP cluster was 4.00 MHz, and you install an 8.00 MHz resonator, the MCU will run twice as fast. This will immediately cause a CAN Bus communication failure with the ECU, and your gauges will not work.

Depending on the year and version of the BRP cluster, they used either 4.00 MHz or 8.00 MHz. They are NOT interchangeable. If you are 100% sure your exact board version used 8.00 MHz, then buy the 8.00 MHz version. If you are not sure, try the 4.00 MHz first, as it is very common on these specific boards.

Best regards!

Такой конечно видел, даже есть в наличии на 8Мгц... Просто на вашем фото он выглядит как черный.

Hello StanleyJones,

Yes, exactly! What you attached in the picture are the SMD (Surface Mount) versions of the ceramic resonator. That is exactly what the factory used originally.

However, for a manual repair at the shop, the original SMD pads on the board are often damaged or too small. That is why modifying it with a through-hole version (like the ZTT series I mentioned) is much easier to solder and holds up much better against mechanical vibration on off-road vehicles like BRP.

Good find on the picture!
